Ofena is is surrounded by some of the highest mountains in Italy. It is in the heart of three National Parks and on the edge of the Gran Sasso. There are also other National Parks nearby. All of which make for spectacular scenery.
A variety of walking books and maps of the area showing mountain refuges can be found at the local tobacconist's in Capestrano.
Riding horses are also available in Capestrano. There is some great fishing to be had in the vicinity.
